UTILIGY launches new Internet Metering Gateway

June 2nd 2009 - Intermoco Limited officially launched its new Internet Metering Gateway today.
The new device called imeter Gateway is an Internet Protocol (IP) gateway that will enable Utiligy’s Radio Frequency Meter Reading products to “plug in” to the broadband network and automatically feed data back to utilities.
Compared to current processes the new product is expected to deliver real savings to water and gas utilities as well as enable the better management of scarce resources.
As previously announced Intermoco has entered into a strategic Partnership with NEC Australia. Intermoco is now working with NEC to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with a major utility to undertake a significant trial with the imeter in Australia.

Utiligy will leverage NEC’s position and technical expertise in the transmission of voice and data on broadband networks.
The imeter is being officially launched today at the Measurement and Metering Innovation conference being held in Melbourne before industry leaders.
Andrew Meehan, General Manager, Business Services of Utiligy said today in launching the product:
“Utiligy currently registers over 10 million reads per annum through its manual meter reading and electronic systems. The imeter Gateway will utilise the latest in radio frequency transmission from the meter to the Gateway installed in the consumers premises and is expected to significantly add to the number of meters being read by the Utiligy Meter Reading System.”
The imeter Gateway will be manufactured under license and is expected to generate significant sales for both the Gateway and the Meter Reading devices.
Intermoco’s CEO Bob Gestro says that the imeter Gateway will play a significant role in adding value to Utiligy’s suite of products and expects it to have a high take up rate by utilities.
